I can’t believe that summer vacation is nearly over !! I miss my friends so so much! Well, I guess I will see my friends again on the 1st of August Hope I could write sooner!

Hello peoples of the world! Explorers of the ‘World Wide Web’…  As you know, 5th graders here at ISB are very excited ‘to go to’ or ‘moving up’ to 6th grade next year in Middle School.  We had our 5th grade graduation on the 5th of June at 8:00 am and at about 9:30 am it was ‘P-A-R-T-Y  T-I-M-E !-!-!’ The pool party was awesome (except for the part that most of us got sun burned…  :@ )!! 

Please comment back and share your memories of a 5th grader becoming a 6th grader or your 5th grade graduation or so. How did you feel? What did you remember most of? What was the funniest thing that happened there?

Goals for semester two

Major learning:

To practice on fraction knowledge.

What I need to achieve this goal:

Let my parents write down fraction equations and I do it.

Practice.

Make time

What might stop me from achieving this goal:

If I use my computer to practice, I would get distracted to a computer game.

I have achieved this goal because of my KUMON homework practice of fractions and my math teacher and my friends at school.

My work habit goal is:

To increase my reading stamina (more than 30 minutes minimum).

What I’ll need to achieve this goal:

A good book and a comfortable reading spot.

Time.

What might stop me from achieving this goal:

Computer, TV, iPod etc.

I have achieved this goal by finding really good books like ‘The Clique’ series and the ‘Warriors’ series.  My favorite reading spot is my bed.

My third goal is:

To have neater hand-writing so everyone can read it.

What I’ll need to achieve this goal:

I need to practice my hand-writing at home.

Take my time

What might stop me from achieving this goal:

Not focusing on my work and writing really fast.

I did not achieve this goal very much because a don’t really pay attention to my hand writing and I usually write really fast.

On my Songkran break, ( Songkran is an AWESOME  thai holiday where you throw water at each other) the only thing that is exciting to me is going to my best friend Alexa’s house.  We played Nintendo  ’Wii’ ‘Rock Band’ all day!!  It was awesome cause I never really played a Wii before.  I played on the drums the whole time but Alexa played on the guitar but then she said she got bored so she switched to singing.

Then we went upstairs to her room and eventually did nothing.  We got bored so went down stairs and cleaned the hamster’s cage then started playing ‘Wii’ again but this time it was ‘Wii’ sports.  We started off with Tennis then Baseball then Bowling then practiced Baseball then Golf.  We had Mac n’ Cheese for lunch ( which was Delicious)

We played Rock band again then it was time for me to go.  After I said bye to Alexa and her mom I went to a restaurant to have dinner with a friend who just came back from Hong Kong and another friend who moved to another school in Thailand.  So my  Songkran holiday was pretty much nothing except for the fact that I went to Alexa’s house and getting to see my old friends again.

In Thailand the most common tradition there is is the ‘Wai’. It is a formal greeting , but when you go into a Buddhist temple, the ‘Wai’ is how you pray. ‘Loy Krathong’ (is the most popular festival and a well known tradition in Thailand along with ‘Song Kran’. Other traditions like a ‘Thai traditional marriage’, ‘Khon Juk’ or the Top knot cutting ceremony, the royal plowing ceremony, are traditions that we do on a special occasion like a wedding, a certain day.  Me and my family have a ‘family day’ every Sunday except if one of the family members aren’t here then we don’t have it…
